Getting from North-South Expressway (NSE) to Johor

The North-South Expressway (NSE, also known as the North-South Highway) is the main road artery of Malaysia. It start from Johor Bahru (the capital city of Johor) all the way to Northern Malaysia, near the Thai Border. Assuming if there are no traffic jam or public holidays, a drive from Kuala Lumpur to Johor through the NSE takes just only 3 hours and a half if you drive more than 100km/h.

From the map below, there are 2 commonly used routes to go Johor. For Singaporeans traveling in to Johor  through the Tuas Second Link (Linkedua), the Second Link Expressway, E3, will directly lead to E2 which is the main route of NSE.

How to go to Johor by air?


You can go to Johor by using air through the Senai International Airport is the main airport in Johor State as it is located 30km away from Johor Bahru. Regular flights from Johor Bahru's Senai Airport connect the state capital with Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Kuching, and Kuala Lumpur for local flights.

The Senai International Airport is a regional hub of Air Asia, a regional famous low-cost airline in Malaysia. Malaysia Airlines (MAS) also operate flights from Senai airport to some local and international destinations.

How to go to Johor by rail?


If you had decided using the rail to go to Johor, it is recommended for you to use the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMMB) service as it offers numerous train services connecting to north and other states through the Johor Bahru Railway Station.

How to go to Johor by sea?


You also can go to Johor by sea. A ferry link provides a new way how to travel to Johor especially for Singaporean. It operates daily between Changi Point near the Singapore International Airport and Tanjung Belungkor in Johor.
